Research interests
Yaa's research interests are in the field of race and ethnicty and identity and the construction and impact of racialised discourse. Recent research has centred on how the West is imagined in schools in sub Saharan Africa, Ghana and Eritrea, in particular, the valorisation of the West and the continuing impact of the colonised curriculum. Yaa's current research proposal is concerned with investigating the impact of educationally-focussed foreign aid, in a case study of a rural community in the upper Eastern region of Ghana.
