Personal profile

Research interests

I am a Principle Lecturer sitting within the BSc (Hons) Mental Health Nursing team, in the School of Sport and Health Sciences, at the University of Brighton. I am interested in mental health nurse education, health and social care issues for people in contact with justice organisations and social research. I previously worked at LSBU (2004-12) where I developed and led the FdSc Offender Care and completed a sequence of part time secondments with health and justice organisations (Central and North West London Trust, Care Services Improvement Partnerships, Offender Health at DHSC) focusing on workforce and education projects. After joining the University of Brighton in 2012, I undertook a Professional Doctorate in Education, focusing on the development of peer care in prisons in support of older adults and disabled detainees. Previous research outputs include a systematic review on stress and burnout amongst the forensic nursing and prison health care workforce (2014). I am currently leading a small team of ECR's to investigate resilience issues for older people in prisons.
