Scholarly biography

Sijuade Yusuf is a Doctoral Researcher with the School of media, University of Brighton.

Siju's research focuses on the use of social media and its significance in addressing gender inequality issues in sub-Saharan Africa. 

She is currently a member of the Centre for Tranforming Sexuality and Gender and the Centre for Digital Media Cultures research groups at the University of Brighton.

Siju received her Master's degree from Bournemouth University, where she wrote a thesis on the media representation of events in sub-saharan Africa that received global media attention. Prior to her joining Bournemouth University, she worked as content creator for some media outlets based in Nigeria.

She currently contributes to dicsourses on social media and gender related issues through organisations in Nigeria that are focused on women development and empowerment.
