I qualified as a Registered Nurse (RN) in 1996 at the University of Brighton. My first post as a RN was at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust where I joined the Intensive Care Unit, qualifying as an Intensive Care Nurse (ENB100) and worked there until 2005 where I had been a Senior Staff Nurse for four years. In 2005 I joined the Critical Care Outreach Team as a Charge Nurse for a further five years. During this time, I completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Health and Social Care Education (PGCHSCE) and was able to register as a Teacher with the NMC in 2010. I was also awarded a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA). In 2010 I returned to the Critical Care Unit as Practice Educator to both the Intensive Care Unit and High Dependency Unit until 2013.
My current post is Senior Lecturer in Advanced Nursing Practice and Acute Care at the University of Brighton, leading the MSc Advanced Cliincal Practice and MSc Advanced Clinical Practice (apprenticeship) courses. I have previously been the Pathway Leader on the BSc (Hons) Acute Clinical Practice undergraduate degree in Emergency Care at the University of Brighton.
My interests are in advanced clinical practice and acute care.
