Chitharanjandas Chinnapaka

Dr Chitharanjandas Chinnapaka is a Senior Lecturer in the  School of Business and Law , University of Brighton. His work takes an interdisciplinary approach, drawing on information systems, internet business, digital economy and digital analytics.

Dr Chitharanjandas studied International Relations and Economics for a Masters degree. He was awarded his PhD by Korea University Business School(KUBS), Korea University South Korea, in June 2006. His doctoral thesis was on internet business models, examined and developed a model understanding the role of the users on e-business portals.

He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy(HEA) and a Certified Management and Business Educator(CMBE). Currently, a panel member of the Peer Review College at UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).

Dr Chitharanjandas have a diverse academic background working at international universities. Before joining the University of Brighton in 2017, Dr Chitharanjandas worked at the Guildhall School of business and Law Londonmetropolitan University, United Kingdom, KIMEP University, Kazakhstan, and Korea University Seoul, Korea.

His adjunct and visiting professorships include working at Kazakh British Technological University, Bader international study centre Queens University, Canada, and a Dual Degree Executive MBA programme with Peking University, China and Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH), Indonesia.

-Research on Telecommunications, IT and Broad brand strategy in South Korea with Center for Information and Communications Strategy (US$25,000) -Funded by Korea University Business School, South Korea

-Research on Digital Korea Initiative DKI Mobile telecommunications Industry in Korea(US$15,000) Funded by Korea University Business School, South Korea.

My research interests are interdisciplinary and mainly revolve around internet business and its various subdomains. More specifically, my research aims to inform our understanding of how internet business technologies and practices affect society and business environment, organisations, business models and strategies. In a broader sense range of themes includes information systems, AI business models, digital marketing, digital transformation, data, business analytics and the role of new technology in business and finance.

I am interested in supervisions looking into subject-specific and interdisciplinary areas such as the role of information systems in business, finance and marketing. I am also interested in projects looking at the Internet and AI business models, digital marketing and analytics, Online banking, including Fintech and Blockchain applications in business.

My previous funded research was an empirical study on the business potentials of information and communication technologies in emerging economies.

I am currently a Peer Review College Member on the United Kingdom Research and Innovation (UKRI) Future Leaders Fellowships programme with experience in assessing interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research and innovation projects. I also work as Deputy Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Advances in Economics and Business.
