Research interests
My research interests focus on the production of knowledge in Sport for Development (SfD). I examine the practices of monitoring and evaluation and how this impacts SfD interventions. I am specifically interested in exploring how sport can be used to address sexual & reproductive health issues.
Scholarly biography
Arthur Gaillard is a research student at the University of Brighton. He graduated in Political Science at the Université Lumière Lyon 2 in 2015. Strongly interested in studying sport through the lens of the social sciences, he studied a MA in Sport and International Development at the University of Brighton from 2016 to 2017. In 2019, he started a PhD on the production of knowledge in Sport for Development (SfD), which led him to conduct an ethnographic inquiry of a Sport for Development intervention in West Africa. Over the years, Arthur has been involved as a practitionner in several SfD organisations in Peru, Cote d'Ivoire, Senegal and the United Kingdom.
