Research interests

Professor Arif's main areas of research at Brighton focus on Offsite and Green Construction, and he has led the  development of a global roadmap for offsite construction, which has formed the basis of research and practice worldwide. His commitment to green construction and development of brownfield sites involves regular engagement with a wide range of global committees, and he continues to work with a range of organisations in the field. 

Supervisory Interests

Prof Arif has supervised students in the area of offsite construction, green buildings, sustainability, project management and knowledge management. So far, he has graduated 28 PhD students as the main supervisor.

Scholarly biography

I have attracted research grants over £9m, capital grant of £14.875 million, published more than 150 refereed articles, graduated 28 PhD students (as main supervisor), acted as Guest Editor for eight Special Issues, served as chair for many conferences, and sit on multiple Editorial Advisory Boards. My publications in the area of offsite construction are among the highest cited publications in the world.
