Research interests
I teach mainly in the area of sociology of education and physical education and sport on a range of contemporary topics, such as children’s personal, social and moral development within PE and sport, teaching pedagogy, social inclusion within PE, physical literacy and young people’s participation in PE, sport and physical activity. When teaching main goal is to get students to analyse concepts and ideas with a view to adopting a more critically reflective approach to their studies and their work. Ultimately my aim is to empower students to bring about change through a more informed position in relation to their knowledge and practice.
My research interests encompass various issues which include the impact of physical education and sport on fair play and sportspersonship, inclusion and inclusive practice in teaching and pedagogy in athletics. I am also interested in young people’s participation in PE and sport and encouraging participation in a healthy active lifestyle.
