Organization profile
Our research is aimed at understanding the consequences of anthropogenic activities on ecological and zoonotic processes, species, populations, communities and ecosystems. We focus our research on understanding and ultimately mitigating, human changes to ecosystem function, species ecology, interactions, animal behavior as well as human health and wellbeing. Our research has real world impact due to its applied nature, by helping to inform relevant conservation, mitigation and management strategies.
Our research group is comprised of experts in a variety of taxonomic groups including mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, invertebrates and plants who utilise a range of approaches, including molecular ecology, genetics, microbiology, epidemiology and zoonoses. We work with a wide range of collaborators across the ecological sector, from charities and trusts to councils and consultants in order to apply innovative and multi-disciplinary approaches to address research questions that will help inform practical conservation and management.
Our research themes are: Aquatic ecosystems, Behavioral Ecology, Biodiversity, Conservation Biology, Conservation in-practice, Community Ecology, Ecotoxicology, Fish Biology, Human-wildlife interactions, Habitat management, Landscape Ecology, Mammal Ecology, Restoration Ecology, Wetland Ecology, Wildlife disease, Wildlife Trade, Urban Ecology, Zoonoses.
